What should I bring with me to finance a car?

Ok so you have a car in mind you want to buy. You have found a car dealer who sells that car and you are ready to go get it. There are a few things you should take with you when going to meet the car dealer. Having them with you will make the financing process a whole lot easier which will speed things up for you. Below is a list of some important items you need to have with you.

  • Driver’s License
  • Recent Pay Stub [Shows proof of income and job]
  • A stamped mailing envelope showing your name and current address
  • Bank statement [Not necessary but recommended]
  • A friendly attitude or patience 🙂

Driver’s license is usually not a big deal since you almost always carry that with you. Pay stubs does 2 things: [1] It tells the sales representative that you have a job and it also tells them you earn enough to cover your monthly payments. Some car dealers like www.jazautosales.com can work with your current income only if your credit history is not in the best of shape. The stamped envelope should be one within 30 to 60 days. This simply proves the legitimacy of your address. Driver’s license often show addresses but you are encouraged to have the envelope as a backup. Depending on the car dealer you deal with, a bank statement may or may not required. The last item is a friendly attitude. Another word for this is ‘patience’. This is needed because sometimes some unexpected situations do occur that are beyond your control or beyond the control of the sales rep and you just have to work with it at times. The computer system may be jammed up and running slow. Some financing process take just a little longer because the car dealer sometimes has to deal with 2 or 3 entities to get your application through.

As the saying goes, “it is better to have something important and not need it than to need it and not have it”. We live in a fast paced world and every little bit of time counts.
